1. Identify and adopt communities
The first part of our strategy to transform impoverished communities around the world is to identify and adopt communities in need. We link with communities that are to some extent being overlooked. Our goal is not to birth or manage any projects but rather to come alongside dedicated field workers who can be trusted. We search for field workers and missions that have integrity, are rooted in the community and have clear goals to help the people. We are looking to resource works that have as their aim to empower people to become self-sufficient. Presently, we are working with small areas in Haiti and Nicaragua. We are also scouting out communities in Mexico, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka and Tanzania.
2. Raise awareness and resources
The second part of our strategy is to raise awareness about the work being done in these communities and awaken generosity and compassion in those who have the resources to make a difference. A small traveling team presents the needs of these impoverished communities through storytelling, short film, music, imagery and other creative means at churches, mission conferences, youth rallies, school assemblies, rotary clubs, moms groups and basically any group of people willing to listen. We also put together our own local awareness events for the same purpose. The purpose is to communicate the desperate needs of people and how to make a difference. We raise money at these gatherings but our greater desire is to raise advocates … which brings us to the third part of our strategy.
3. Create and empower a collective of advocates
As much as we love when people write a check to help serve the needs of people in these impoverished nearly forgotten villages what we really want is for people to become part of our collective of advocates. An Advocate is a person who commits to taking on at least one effort over the course of a year. We provide an extensive list of ideas to help. We also have a team that will assist Advocates with resources and advice as they develop their effort. We also encourage those who are part of the collective to contribute $5 monthly out of their own pockets to help with our operational expenses if they are able since we are committed to giving 100% of all money raised directly to those who need it in the impoverished communities we are focusing on.
