I saw this movie a while back and, once again, I found myself in a puddle of tears. I’m not even sure why a low budget documentary can have such an effect on me. The film was made pretty well but what impacted me was the story. It tells of a young lady who traveled to India to take some photographs of the brothel culture and ended up advocating for a handful of the children. It is simply moving. She is not even an activist or a missionary. But being in proximity to these kids and feeling their need she could not remain the same. She was compelled to action. She ends up helping many of the children to get an education and develop a hope for the future.
When I watch something like this it just feels so right. It makes me come alive inside. Something deep down tells me that this is the sort of thing that humans should be involved in. I guess Jesus was sending that message when he said it’s better to give than to receive. Pouring our lives out for something greater than ourselves is the only thing that really satisfies.
